Welcome to the first edition of The Contact Sheet! Each month we'll be sending you news, promotions, events, contests, specialized dating sites, tips, and stories to help you keep your sense of humor about you as you make your way in the online and offline dating worlds. We hope you enjoy it, and feel free to send us your own suggestions and contributions of sites, events, and tales. Double Shot

Our first engagement! Congratulations to Abe Fard and Rebecca Goldfarb! Abe had his photo taken by us in October and met his fiancé Rebecca shortly after on Jdate. All engaged couples who meet as a result of a SingleShots photo shoot receive a free photo shoot from us, so keep us posted!

In general, we want to hear about your success stories-more attention online or meeting someone as a result of a better photo. If we use your success story in The Contact Sheet, we'll send you a free 5x7 print that you can give your new significant other.

We're growing! Betsy Porterfield joined SingleShots in December as the new Photo/Digital Assistant. As many of you have experienced, she is an expert at making people feel comfortable throughout the shoot. I get tired just thinking about how I ever did this all by myself.

The New Dating Calling Card
Seems that a growing number of people are starting to use their new photos for more than just their online profile. Many clients have reported beginning to use their photos to forward to friends before blind dates, to give to a Matchmaker, or for speed dating. A casual survey we conducted found that 20% of people with great new photos are using them proudly beyond online dating (and this doesn't even count all of the family members who have now been able to replace old senior portraits collecting dust on the mantel).

Pocket Changes
After getting more requests for smaller photos to give to matchmakers and other offline people, we now offer wallet-size prints. If you're interested in ordering wallet prints, email us at info@singleshots.com. They're $20 for eight photos that are approximately 2x3.5.

Coming to a photo shoot with a friend can make the whole experience a lot easier; you can make each other laugh and just help each other relax. For a limited time, if you book two sessions in a row with a friend, both people will receive a Premium photo shoot for the price of a basic shoot, a savings of 25%

Refer a Friend
Word of mouth has been fantastic since so many people have been happy with their photos and the amazing results. Starting today, you'll receive a free 5x7 print if you refer a friend who books a session with us.

Contest:

The Good, The Bad and the…

The world of dating can be alternately exhilarating and humiliating, but at least we can often get a good laugh out of our adventures. We always want to hear your success stories that came as a result of having a great photo, but this contest concerns the other end of the scale.

Send us your funniest, most unexpected dating tales! We'll include them in our next newsletter and reward the best (or worst, depending on how you look at it) with a $50 gift certificate to La Bonne Soupe, a cozy French bistro (48 West 55th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, 212-586-7650). If you're looking for place to go for Valentine's Day, they have live music that evening as well as a special menu. (I'm a big fan of their fondue).

Site Unseen:
The big dating sites can be great-due to volume, there's lots of people to choose from. But sometimes finding someone compatible can be like trying to meet someone in a bar the size of a stadium. Each month in the newsletter we'll highlight a different specialized site that some of you might be interested in, some of which we're starting to partner up with. If you've stumbled upon a cool site you like, please let us know!

Alumni networks can be a great way to meet new people---people have doing it for years.
