What are SingleShots?
SingleShots are professional digital photos taken for online personal dating sites. A great photo of yourself can greatly increase the rate of response to your online profile.

How does it work?
First, you’ll make an appointment with us. When you meet with your photographer, we’ll talk for a little while to find out more about you and what style of photo you want. The shoot itself feels very relaxed, since we’ll just be chatting during the shoot.

After the shoot, which takes from 30-45 minutes depending on which package you choose, you’ll be free to go. Within a day, you’ll receive a link to your online proofs, where you can look at all the shots, share them with your friends, and decide which ones you like the best.

After filling out an easy form to let us know your favorite shots, we’ll then do some basic color correction, then resize and format the photos and email them directly to you. You can then upload the photos to your profile according to the specific instructions of your online service, or have us upload them for you if that is included in the package or for an additional fee.

How many final photos do I get?
It depends on the package you choose. Learn about specific packages and prices, and then contact us so we can discuss your needs.

Can I get additional final photos?
Yes, we can give you additional retouched and formatted photos for a extra fee per photo.

Can I have my photos retouched?
Retouching is offered as part of some of the available packages, or a la carte for an additional fee, and can include anything from diminishing dark circles to softening skin.
Either way, the retouching is very subtle, since you want your photos to look natural. Too much retouching and you don't look like yourself. Still not sure? Learn more about retouching here.

Can I get prints of my SingleShots photos?
Yes. Although the photos delivered to you are meant for the web, you can still purchase additional prints or purchase a CD-Rom of the high-resolution images. Having the CD-Rom of images is the digital equivalent of having the negatives, which you can then print yourself or bring to a lab.

Can I get my photos in black and white also?
Yes. The shoot is done in color, but your final images are available in black and white or color. Just let us know which you would prefer when you fill out your final request form.

What should I wear for the shoot?
Bright, solid colors work best, as they help draw attention to your profile. Avoid checks, busy patterns, or large jewelry, which pull focus from your eyes and face.. Overall, what's most important is feeling comfortable and confident.

What about hair and makeup?

Make-up is also available in our studio with Suzy Gerstein, a NYC-based makeup artist with an amazingly natural style. Suzy is now offering SingleShots clients the opportunity of pre-photo makeup applications for the flat rate of $150.

Suzy Gerstein freelances at Salon A.K.S. on Madison Avenue, and does work for Bobbi Brown, Biotherm, and Stila Cosmetics. She also volunteers as resident Bobbi Brown makeup artist at the not-for-profit organization, Dress for Success. Suzy's experience includes runway, print, television, and film, and among her credits are TLC's A Makeover Story, CNN's Larry King Live, CBS' The Early Show, as well as internships with top fashion makeup artist Linda Cantello and film m.a. Bernadette Mazure on Paramount's Stepford Wives. Her specialty is enhancing (not concealing!) a woman's unique beauty with natural makeup.

If you opt to apply your own makeup, we suggest wearing the same amount and in the same style that you normally would on a first date. We also have translucent powder on hand to reduce shine.
