CIMC-Hexagon Type IV High-Pressure Hydrogen Storage Cylinders First Sold in Europe

Recently, the type IV high-pressure hydrogen storage cylinders (hereinafter referred to as Type IV Cylinders”) produced by CIMC-Hexagon Hydrogen Energy Development (Hebei) Co., Ltd. (“CIMC-Hexagon”), a joint venture between CIMC Enric and Hexagon Purus, have passed the EU TPED certification and the first batch of products have been officially delivered to European customers recently.

As a joint venture between CIMC Enric and Hexagon Purus established in 2021, CIMC-Hexagon has the world’s leading technology of Type IV Cylinders and hydrogen supply systems. At the end of 2024, CIMC-Hexagon’s Hebei plant has been put into production, which is the largest production base for Type IV Cylinders in Asia.

The Type IV Cylinders feature lightweight, high pressure, high hydrogen storage density, corrosion resistance, and long use life. They meet the development requirements of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and are considered to be the mainstream product of on-board hydrogen storage cylinders in the future, and also have a broad market in the field of hydrogen transportation.

Li Hui, General Manager of CIMC-Hexagon, introduced that in the face of the rapidly growing global market demand, in addition to selling our products to Europe, we have also made sufficient preparations for the Chinese and Southeast Asian markets, and have accumulated abundant production and service capabilities. It is believed that by 2025, CIMC-Hexagon’s type IV high-pressure hydrogen storage cylinder products will rapidly cover the target markets.

Xu Yongsheng, President of CIMC Enric’s Hydrogen Energy Business Center, stated that China’s hydrogen energy technology holds a leading position globally, and there is a huge potential for hydrogen energy products in the Chinese market. We look forward to the continuous supply of competitive products to the Chinese and Southeast Asian markets by CIMC Enric in the future.
